Match Reports 25 April 2021
Under 8 Reds had a great match. Pipped by a lucky goal and to be fair 1 cracking goal from a kid looked like he was about 14 :) all the boys had fun.
Under 8 Yellow came up against Steve’s U8 blue today who took the spoils, some great potential for the club on both sides. We done to your team Steve
Under 9 Red did well and some great team play against Mt Martha who we got the better of 4-0
Under 10 Red got a 'welcome to Kangaroo grade' from the Casey Comets, going down 7-1 at home. We were on the defensive in
the first half but played well - but conceded 2 goals from fine strikes. We altered the formation in the second half and despite scoring a
very fine goal, we fell apart in the last few minutes. Kudos to Casey - they had three very good attacking players who had us under
pressure all day. Many lessons learned.
Under 10 Gold - boys fought hard but went down 0-2 to Seaford this morning who were noticeably bigger and more physical
than our boys. Game was 0-1 for a long time, we missed a penalty, second goal went in with only a couple mins left on the clock. Can’t say
it wasn’t coming though
Under 10 Green played the Bayside Argonauts today We went down 2 - 1, the game was incredibly close and a great start to the season
Under 10 Yellow, big win against Langy and boys played some nice passing football.
Under 12 girls played really well against Ringwood, after taking the lead went down 1-4 but that score does not reflect the play. That is two weeks in a row we have taken the lead and lost, some are calling me the Jose Mourinho of Melbourne U12 girls soccer
Under 12s played a great game against skye with a brilliant result of 5-1 the boys played really cohesively showed some really great signs of thinking soccer
Under 14s lost 10-2. They gave their all throughout and created quite a few opportunities but were unable to cope with a technically superior team. Special mention to keeper Lincoln who copped one in the knackers before the game, one in the face after 5 mins and had to pick the ball out the net 10 times despite a number of good saves. Full credit to him for sticking in there
Under 15s - went down to a polished Glen Eira 6-1. Ethan scored for us in a game of two halves with a slow first half again proving costly. The boys tried hard but were unable to own the midfield. Great effort by Harry in goals and excellent intensity by Max and Sam.
Under 16s - matched up well with a strong and technical Sandringham side but eventually went down 8-3 at Emil Madsen. Playing again with only 11 and no substitutes, the boys did a lot of running and showed determination to compete right to the end grabbing a well-deserved third goal just a couple of minutes before time. The strength of character shown by the boys today was great to see and will no doubt stand them in good stead in the coming weeks.
